How to make bird wings out of cardboard? ›

HOW TO: Measure your wing span (i.e. how long your kids arms are when stretched out) and cut a long wing shape out of a length of cardboard to the same length. Then cut a smaller wing shape to go in the middle. Attach your 2 wing shapes together using tape to make the base for your wings.

Two strips of Velcro are enough to secure the wings. The sticky sides of the Velcro attach to the inner side of the wings and to the back of your clothes. To put the wings on, push the Velcro sides together and you're done. Arm or thumb loops can be sewn onto felt-covered cardboard.

Cut 12 crescent shapes from your paper plates and glue them together to form wing shapes. Stick wings onto a paper plate to form the back. Make 4 holes in another paper plate, poke elastic straps through and secure on the inside with glue. Glue this plate onto your wings and you are finished.

Combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and baking powder in a small bowl. Then sprinkle the seasoning over the wings, tossing to evenly coat. Arrange wings, skin side up, in single layer on prepared wire rack. Bake on the upper middle oven rack, turning every 20 minutes until wings are crispy and browned.

Cardboard Fairy Wings

Step 1: Trace the outline of the wings and cut them out. Step 2: Paint the wings. Step 3: Glue tulle and/or add glitter etc. to decorate wings. Step 4: We used tulle to make the straps for wings, but you could also use ribbon or twine.

Create a template by folding a paper in half and sketching out one side of the wings. Cut the template out, unfold and trace the wings out onto your cardboard. Cut the wings out. Paint the base of the wings with a white or ivory paint, then sketch vein details with a pencil.

Make see-through fairy wings by bending coat hangers into ovals and sliding mesh stockings or tights over them. Create cartoon-like fairy wings for kids by cutting a piece of cardboard into the shape of butterfly wings, painting it beautiful colors, and attaching ribbon straps.

Is cardboard OK for birds? ›

Most birds chew on paper and cardboard with absolutely no harmful effects. For many birds, paper is a fun and inexpensive item with which to play. Bird owners often have questions about newsprint, namely, if the inks used to produce it is toxic to birds.

Place the large loop over the back of the wings with the knot in the middle, pinch in the middle to make two arm holes. The elastic should look like a figure 8. Duct tape the middle of your figure 8 to the cardboard. YOU'RE DONE + your kid is stoked!

Cut out cardboard pieces.

The triangles don't need to be the same size. It's okay if there are spaces between the needles and the cardboard. The gaps will be covered by the t-shirt and feathers. Try to make your triangles obtuse and isosceles to add to the shape of the wings.
