I always like to find effortless ways to elevate everything, and a simple way to do this is to add a splash of bitters or a rosemary sprig, even some fresh mint sprigs are a fabulous addition. If you have more rum selections in your home bar, you can also use an aged rum for extra depth or even coconut rum for a fun twist.

Let’s make some easy grapefruit co*cktails…
This recipe makes two grapefruit co*cktails. You’ll need one grapefruit for the juice and a second if you want some slices as garnish. Once you squeeze out the juices of the grapefruit using a citrus juicer or press, squeeze the juices of the lime and add with the grapefruit juice. For a smooth co*cktail, I prefer to strain the mixture to remove any pulp or seeds from the grapefruit.
Ingredients for this simple Grapefruit and Rum Drink
- 1 grapefruit
- 1 lime
- 2 oz of rum
- soda water
- 1 slice of grapefruit, for garnish
- fresh mint, for garnish
How to Make a Grapefruit Rum co*cktail
- Strain the mixture and pour the juice into a co*cktail shaker.
- Add two ounces of rum with a handful of ice. Shake for 20 seconds and strain into two tall glasses filled with a cup of ice cubes.
- Top with soda water and garnish with a slice of grapefruit.
Tips for the best co*cktail
You can use a flavoured rum; like Bacardi Grapefruit flavoured rum. You can pretty much play around with any new flavours that would complement the citrus taste of the grapefruit. As for the soda water, I love using the pink grapefruit flavour, but you can play around with other tropical fruit flavours. A great pairing would be a raspberry since the combination of citrus raspberry flavours is one of my favourites.
If you don’t want to squeeze your own grapefruit juice, swap for pink lemonade or bottled grapefruit juice.

Ingredients
- 1 grapefruit
- 1 lime
- 2 oz rum
- soda water to top off
- 1 slice grapefruit for garnish
- fresh mint for garnish
Instructions
Juice both the grapefruit and the lime.
Strain the juice (to remove pulp and any seeds) and add to a co*cktail shaker.
Add in the rum and a handful of ice.
Shake for 20 seconds and strain into 2 co*cktail glasses filled with ice.
Top each glass off with some soda water.
Garnish each co*cktail with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of fresh mint
