Fairy

Fairies are somewhat delicate creatures, standing between four and five feet tall. All fairies have vibrantly color eyes ranging from green to blue to pink to orange and more. Some of them even have brightly colored hair varying to the same degree, though there are a few fairies that have more generic colored hair. They have extravagant wings that can emerge out of the skin on their back or seal into their skin whenever they please. Their wings vary in appearance giving them some uniqueness. They tend to be on the more petite side but don’t let their fragile appearance fool you, as they are clever magic users and shouldn’t be underestimated.

History of The Fey

Fairies, known as creatures of The Fey, were never meant to live on Askeron. The Fey is a separate realm from Askeron, the two worlds who's proximity was enough to where they would never cross paths, or so they thought. Three hundred years ago Askeron and The Fey collided, the edges of each world briefly consuming the other. It was not felt or detected by anyone except for a large storm that collected in the Lorsel Ocean. When the storm cleared what was left was a lush new landmass that had not been there before, known as Itholia. Itholia was a small island on The Fey and in the collide it had shifted to Askeron. By the time any of the fairies could realize what had happened, their world was no longer connected to Askeron and home was no longer in reach.
For decades the fairies did everything in their power to remain hidden from this new world. They used every magic they could to steer ships and sailors off course, away from Itholia so that it would not be discovered.

The fairies lived on Itholia, their small piece of home, for two hundred years without interference, but 100 years ago they stopped their efforts and embarked on a journey to accept Askeron as their home. The acceptance did not come easy, for it also meant committing to the idea that they would never return to The Fey.

Wings

Fairy (5)

A fairy's wings are like their fingerprint. Each fairy has a set of wings that are uniquely theirs. Many may seem similar but there are intricate details that separate them. The colors are just as varied, from bright shades to pastels, from solids to patterns and much more. Their wings are a controlled part of their body, that they can hide away or reveal at their own discretion, which helps them decide how the world is to view them. The wings sink into the skin to be hidden or they emerge out at the fairy's choosing.

Fairy Dust

A fairy's wings look as if sprinkled with glitter, shining and twinkling in the light. You also might catch glimpses of sparkle on their skin. This effect comes from Fairy Dust: a tiny, solid particle that naturally grows on a fairy's wings and skin. When a fairy flaps its wings these little dust particles fall in very small amounts, mostly unnoticed. To understand just how little fairy dust sheds from a fairy's wings, take this example:
If, hypothetically, a fairy were to fly for 24 hours straight, it's wings would only produce one tablespoon of fairy dust.

This organic substance, while simply an aesthetic for fairies, has a very interesting use for other humanoids. It was discovered by a human named Doctor Pulver, who later went by the name Doctor Dust. Pulver was fascinated with fairies and while treating one for illness took samples of her fairy dust for research. The fairy which he experimented on was one by the name of Nixie Nursha. Nixie, while sick, was instead locked up like a lab rat in a boxed cage. He would make her fly for hours to collect her dust and run tests on it.
More Can Be Learned From This Book:

What Doctor Dust discovered was that fairy dust could be snorted, like a drug, and it would cause wondrous things to happen. For magic humanoids it would boost their abilities slightly, giving them a couple hours of enhanced strength in their magic. For non-magic users it would grant them a single magic ability, one of the fairy's basic elemental abilities, for a short period of time (1 to 3 hours of usage).
A minimum of 1 teaspoon is requires to get the full effects.
1 teaspoon equals 1 hour of enhanced magic or granted magic ability.
3 teaspoons or 1 tablespoon is the maximum amount to be snorted at a time, any more and the effects plateau.

There were also side effects. First time users experience intense migraines for the next 24 to 48 hours. This lessens the more you use the drug. For all users there are occasional blurry vision and dizziness while taking the drug and sometimes for several hours after. There is also an addictive euphoria that gives users a rush, feeling light weight and excited.
