Ingredients

The ingredients for this is super simple and you probably already have most of these in your kitchen! For this recipe, you will need:

  • Salted butter: When combined with the sweetness of the popcorn and maple syrup is so delicious.
  • Microwavable popcorn: Regular popcorn works perfectly for this recipe.
  • Slivered almonds: Adds an extra crunch to the popcorn.
  • Pure maple syrup: Will level out all of the saltiness to curb every craving from salty to sweet.
  • Salt: will balance out the sweetness.

How to Make Maple Almond Popcorn

  • Step One: Cover a large bowl with butter. My favorite one is linked below.
  • Step Two: Line a non-stick cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step Three: Pour the cooked popcorn and slivered almonds into a buttered bowl.
  • Step Four: In a medium pan, melt the butter. Add in the maple syrup and a dash of salt. Over medium heat, bring to boil, lower the heat and keep at a soft boil until a candy thermometer reads 300F, about 15 minutes. Stir constantly.
  • Step Five: Pour the maple syrup mixture over the popcorn and add in the silvered almonds and mix well.
  • Step Six: Spread the popcorn mixture on the parchment paper and let it cool completely. Break apart and store in a covered container for 4 to 5 days.

  • Parchment paper – Helpful when you don’t need anything to stick for all baking needs.
  • 5 QT stockpot – This huge stockpot is the perfect “bowl” to use for this recipe.
  • Cookie sheet set – Set of 3 non stick cookie sheets that are perfect for any of your baking needs.
  • Candy thermometer – When making candy, correct temperatures are crucial to the success of the candy. A candy thermometer used for this recipe ensures that the syrup mixture is at the right temperature for the popcorn.

What to Serve with Maple Almond Popcorn

I love serving this for movie nights! Other treats that will be delicious for movie night are my Chocolate Raspberry S’mores or my Pizza Wonton Cups. This popcorn combined with any pizza dinner for movie nights are a huge hit with my entire family. My Spicy Chili Nachos are also delicious served during a movie night or just on their own.

Substitutions and Variations

You can add anything you want to this popcorn such as chocolate candy or even pretzels. You can also make popcorn on the stove or in a popcorn maker instead of using microwavable popcorn.

Can I Freeze?

Yes, you can! Although making this is super quick and easy so freezing many not be completely necessary but it can be served after unthawing overnight in the fridge after freezing. It will stay good in the freezer for up to 6 months.
