Just installed the first of two raised garden bundles. Product looks very well designed and built. Assembly was easy with good instructions. Product arrived without damage. I really like the look, as I am replacing a couple of block and plank raised beds.

In 2015 my husband built me a wood raised garden area, 20 x 20 ft square with beds being 4 ft deep. It is fully fenced and gated. In the middle was a 4x4 separate bed. We bought the 4x8 All-In-One bundle to replace the separate bed, to give more gardening space. The garden grid watering system is by far the best! We have since purchased several others to replace less efficient irrigation.

Sturdy beds, easy to assemble. They look like they’ll last a long time. We got everything we needed to connect the irrigation in four beds and only had to hook it up to the hose. Each bed took about an hour from start to finish.

Firstly, I got more for my money purchasing this garden bed through Garden In Minutes than most of the stuff I saw on Amazon. I go the 4x4 w/watering system. Super fast delivery. Arrived in 4 business days. Assembly by myself took roughly about a half hour. All hardware was included with simple instructions. The material feels sturdy and I like the protective finish on the metal. Looking forward to my first growing season NOT in a bunch of pots.

This is the third time ordering from Garden in Minutes. That should speak to the quality of the products from this company. I’m very excited to put my garden bed bundle together, and get gardening. Living in AZ, winter is the perfect time to plant a lot of crops.

I ordered two 4×6 beds and instead received two 4×8 beds. I did not recognize this until I had them put together, filled them and placed the watering grids. I now have a 2 foot gap in both beds. How should I handle this?

    (0)(0)

    • Bryan Traficante (store manager)

Hi Larry, thanks for reaching out. When you assemble your garden bed to the 4×6 configuration, you will have 2 panels left over. If you add those two panels in, it will create a 4×8 configuration. This is because our raised garden beds are modular. Each garden bed can be configured into various layouts based on how the panels are organized and whether you use all of them or not. In the instructions, you will find an area showing which configuration you should assemble the garden bed to, based on the bundle size that you ordered. We’ll send you and email now to help. If you prefer the 4×8 size, we can even send you an additional Garden Grid section to convert your unassembled 4×6 to a 4×8 size. Talk soon!

FAQs

What is the ideal height for a raised garden bed? ›

A 12-inch raised bed is a great minimum height for growing lots of delicious plants in the kitchen garden. If you want to grow larger vining plants like tomatoes, squash, or zucchini—plants that sprawl and tend to draw a lot of nutrients from the soil as they grow—you might move closer to an 18-inch raised bed.

What is the best way to irrigate raised garden beds? ›

Types of automatic watering systems include soaker hoses, sprinklers, and drip lines attached to a timer. I've used all three of these methods in my garden, and have found drip-line irrigation is the most effective way to water raised-bed gardens.

Do I need a liner for metal raised garden bed? ›

Raised garden bed lining isn't mandatory to have healthy growing plants. But adding raised garden bed lining does provide benefits. Many experienced gardeners recommend lining raised beds for these reasons: It provides insulation for the soil and helps control temperature fluctuations.

How do you level a metal raised garden bed? ›

Place a board on the edge of the metal garden bed. First place it on the width of the bed. Place a level on the board, and then use a small hand-held sledgehammer or sledgehammer to gently repeatedly hammer the board.

Is 8 inches tall enough for a raised garden bed? ›

They should have at least 8 inches of soil depth to accommodate the root systems of plants, because the majority of plant roots require 6 – 8 inches of soil for healthy root growth. A depth of 8 – 12 inches will suffice for most gardening situations.

Is 8 inches tall enough for raised bed? ›

For a vegetable garden to succeed, your raised bed should have at least 8 inches of soil depth, which means the bed itself needs to be 8 inches or taller. It is the minimum for nearly every vegetable and growing in less will produce stunted results.

Can you over water raised beds? ›

If they are in a raised bed, you won't go wrong if you water them every evening that it doesn't rain during the day. They may not need that much but a raised bed will at least make waterlogging unlikely. I definitely would not let them get to the point where they actually wilt or show signs of moisture stress.

How far apart should drip irrigation be in raised beds? ›

You will want to space your 1/4″ emitter tubing out every 12″ in your raised beds (since the width of mine was 4 feet I had 3 lines in each bed).

Should I water my raised beds everyday? ›

Ideally, you should water an in-ground bed 1 to 2 inches a week, while a raised bed may require more water per week. Feeling the soil frequently is the best way to gauge when a raised vegetable bed needs watering.

What do you put on the bottom of a metal raised garden bed? ›

A barrier at the bottom of your raised bed, such as landscape fabric or cardboard, can help prevent weeds from growing up into the bed from the underlying soil. This layer acts as a physical block, stopping weed roots before they can reach the nutrient-rich soil of your garden.

Why put cardboard in raised beds? ›

The answer is yes. You can line the bottom of your raised garden bed with cardboard and newspaper to block out weeds or act as a barrier against rhizomatous, weedy or invasive plants. While some may opt for landscape fabric, cardboard is a more cost-effective option.

Do metal raised garden beds get too hot? ›

Will a metal garden bed cause plants and soil to overheat? The answer is no. The temperature of the soil near the edges of the garden may rise slightly on a warm day but not enough to have any impact on your plants. If you properly water your garden bed plants, you should not have to worry about them drying up.

How long do metal raised garden beds last? ›

Metal garden beds usually last at least 30 years, assuming they are well maintained. The biggest factor affecting the life of metal garden bed is the type of soil it often contacts. High acid soil will destroy the zinc layer around the metal garden bed, which will shorten the service life of the bed itself over time.

What metal is best for raised garden beds? ›

Because of the constant interaction with water, soil, and inclement weather, we only recommend garden beds made of galvanized steel or other treated metals.

Are metal raised beds worth it? ›

Plus, metal garden beds are worth the price because they won't rot or decay over time, giving you a longer-lasting gardening solution that justifies their initial cost. Metal raised garden beds are also easy to assemble and require very little maintenance.

Can a raised garden bed be too high? ›

As long as it's easy for you to work in it, a raised garden bed can't be too tall, with one proviso: a taller bed is often a deeper bed, and the deeper the bed, the more soil it will hold, and the more pressure there will be on the sides of the bed.

What is the best size raised bed for vegetables? ›

The optimum size for raised garden beds is around four feet wide and eight feet long. This size provides a good balance between planting space and ease of access. However, the size of your raised garden bed will ultimately depend on your available space, gardening needs, and budget.

How high should a raised garden bed be to keep rabbits out? ›

Surprisingly, rabbits have a limited vertical jump height. A raised garden bed of 24 inches or higher is sufficient to deter cottontail rabbits. If jackrabbits (or the mythical jackalope) are the problem, the raised bed should be at least 36 inches high. Your back will thank you for the raised bed!

How high should you fill a raised bed with soil? ›

The soil level will depend on how much space you want for your garden plants roots. I would recommend filling it to the top, because over a short amount of time your soil will settle. If you want to plant root crops, make sure your soil will be deep enough to accommodate them. We wanted about 12 inches of good soil.
