The tulip gardens plant early, mid and late flowering tulips to help ensure there’s color to enjoy throughout the festival. However, Mother Nature determines exactly when the tulips will bloom— hot/cold weather, heavy rains and high winds can affect the best laid plans. In some years the color first appears in March while in others it can last into May. While we can’t predict the exact moment each tulip will bloom, we assure you we’ll keep you updated along the way—see status above. If you’re traveling from a distance and must make plans now, history has shown that mid-April tends to be the safest bet to experience colorful blooms.
