Zelda (Breath of the Wild) (1)

I come seeking help... regarding this power that has been handed down over time... Prayer will awaken my power to seal Ganon away... Or so I've been told all my life... And yet... Grandmother heard them - the voices from the spirit realm. And mother said her own power would develop within me. But I don't hear... or feel anything! Father has told me time and time again... He always says, "Quit wasting your time playing at being a scholar!" Curse you... I've spent every day of my life dedicated to praying! I've pleaded to the spirits tied to the ancient gods... And still the holy powers have proven deaf to my devotion. Please just tell me... What is it...? What's wrong with me?!
~ Zelda's frustration at being unable to awaken the power of Hylia

Zelda (Breath of the Wild) (2)

I've been keeping watch over you all this time... I've witnessed your struggles to return to us as well as your trials in battle. I always thought - no, I always believed - that you would find a way to defeat Ganon. I never lost faith in you over these many years... Thank you, Link... the hero of Hyrule. May I ask... Do you really remember me?

Summary

Princess Zelda is a major supporting character in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and a primary protagonist in its prequel Age of Calamity. She is the current princess of Hyrule and the latest member of the royal family to inherit the sealing powers of the goddess Hylia.

Prior to the Great Calamity, Zelda aided in the research of the ancient Sheikah technology and also trained to awaken her dormant powers so that she could help combat and seal away Calamity Ganon, however no matter how hard she tried she was unable to even slightly bring forth her divine powers much to her frustration. On her seventeenth birthday she alongside Link and the Champions witnessed as Ganon had emerged from his previous seal and begun his assault on Hyrule, attempting to flee from the now possessed Guardians she was finally able awaken her powers in a desperate attempt to save Link. With her sealing powers brought forth she made her way to Ganon and kept him suppressed within Hyrule Castle for an entire century before she was able to truly seal him away with the aid of a reawakened Link. In Age of Calamity, an alternate timeline created by a small time traveling Guardian named Terrako, she alongside Link and the rest of her allies were able to successfully seal away Calamity Ganon before he was able to bring mass devastation to Hyrule like he did in the original timeline.
