Fairies are among the most helpful creatures in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as they will automatically heal you upon losing your last heart and grant you another chance to survive a dangerous encounter. They resemble orbs of glowing light with green-tipped butterfly wings, and you can get them from specific locations, some easier to reach than others. Find them with this handy guide and learn tips for how to catch Fairies in TotK.

Official Description: "This fairy will fly from your pouch and heal you the moment you lose your last heart. It's easily mistaken for a firefly at first, but it glows in the daylight as well as night."

Where to Find Fairies in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

You can find Fairies in many places, but it's likely you'll encounter them fluttering near a water source in some Hyrule Caves, on Hyrule Sky Islands, and inside some Wells.

Common Locations:

  • Hyrule Caves
  • Hyrule Sky Islands

Dueling Peaks Stable Well - West Necluda

One of the more accessible locations to get Fairies is the Dueling Peaks Stable Well, where you can find up to three Fairies near the water on the third level down. You can reach Dueling Peaks Stable Well by heading southeast from Hyrule Field and following the road that leads through Dueling Peaks along Squabble River.

The stables will be on the east side of Dueling Peaks and north of the river. When you get there, go behind the stables and enter the Well inside the Goat and Cucco pen.

Courage Island - Hyrule Ridge Sky

You can find up to three Fairies floating around the pond at the bottom of Courage Island, which is right outside of Taunhiy Shrine. To reach this location, you'll need the Paraglider so you can use Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower to launch yourself into the sky and glide southwest to access the floating island. Be sure to complete Taunhiy Shrine so you can fast-travel back every so often to restock Fairies when they're depleted.

Coordinates: -2348, 0790, 0611

Valor Island - South Lanayru Sky Archipelago

You can find a few Fairies at the pond just outside of Sihajog Shrine on Valor Island. However, reaching this location will be tricky your first time traveling there. To reach this location, you'll need the Paraglider and a way to stay warm, so you can use the frigid Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower to launch yourself into the air and glide northeast toward Valor Island—with a few pit stops on smaller sky islands along the way.

Tips for Catching Fairies

  • Fairies will fly away if you approach them too quickly, so it's best to walk or sneak up to them very slowly so they don't fly away from you.
  • Sometimes, Fairies will fly a bit out of reach, but they will usually float back down (eventually).
  • Fairies can't be shot down by arrows like other creatures, so save your arrows and sneak up on them instead.
  • Complete Shrines that are nearby Fairy locations so you can fast-travel back every once in a while to restock after running out of Fairies.

Fairy Uses

Fairies will automatically heal Link anytime his hearts reach zero, granting you another chance to survive dangerous encounters you may face on your journey through TotK. Fairies can also be cooked with monster parts to create a Fairy Tonic that restores seven hearts when consumed.
